Puzzles. Puzzles. Puzzles. Those dastardly puzzles. Brainteasers were the theme of Survivor’s 48’s big premiere. Not only the Immunity Challenge puzzle put a big target on Stephanie’s back but a Immunity Idol puzzle threw Sai for a loop.
Stephanie took the blame at Vulu for not being able to maintain their lead. The way Stephanie explained it to me though, Vulu was at a huge disadvantage. Not only did they not have the manpower to push through the challenge because of how the tribes were created or selected but…
“We were super disadvantaged on that challenge. We got to the puzzle last. I was so proud of how much time we did make up. I think we make a lot of headway. Kevin was really injured. His arm was like fully dislocated in the first challenge, which you guys don’t see. They had to cut it for time but his arm is fully dislocated. It gets put back in its socket by medical. So, here we are doing this giant puzzle, these heavy ass pieces, and we only got three hands. We’re disadvantaged kind of from the start but we were two of the only people who wanted to do the puzzle. Folks didn’t volunteer. They didn’t want to…We were really close and we made up so much time. A little bit of difference in our ability to physically do it might have made all the difference in our success,” she said.
For the rest of my chat with Stephanie you can check here. She gets very emotion talking about a family tragedy that lit a fire under her Survivor game. A very open, funny and honest chat.
Global TV: Stephanie’s ‘Survivor’ journey brought her family together after tragedy
It was a shame they cut out all that footage of Kevin’s injury. That would have put a lot of what happened with Vulu in greater context. As a viewer, it was hard to discern how injured he really was and how it was affecting his and Vulu’s game.
Sai’s trouble and eventual jubilation was amusing me. Her frustrating created so much drama. Putting the idol in a Chinese Puzzle box was brilliant. As a horror fan it reminded me of this scene from one of my favourite films:
On with this week’s Survivor Stock Ticker:

Blame Kev and his alliance with Mary. That is what tipped the scales of Stephanie going over her. Stephanie could have been a more grounded but very fun Caroline 2.0. Unfortunately, we will never be able to how really entertaining she would have been.

She seems to have everyone at Vulu following her lead. Will her aggressive gameplay right out of the gate make her an easy target though?

Kamilla is off to a strong start but unlike Sai she is playing a more covert game.

As Stephanie alluded to in her interview with me, Kevin is a more influential and motivating force at Vulu then we have been led to believe.

Thomas is at the heart of much of what is going on at Lagi. Will that make him or break him?

He is already off to a bad start. It is not even about winning or losing that supplies challenge. He is fumbling and bumbling already. Will he find his footing?

I am not sure what the reason is exactly, however, at Civa she is giving off that untrustworthy vibe.

Who’s next to go?

Kamilla has been rallying the troops against her. I am guessing that Vulu doesn’t visit tribal next episode so Mary is safe for now.
