Visionary writer Ayn Rand has changed life in so many ways over the years. If you haven’t read her book, novella ‘Anthem’, please do. It will could alter the way you see the world forever like it did me. It is only 100 pages or so but a very powerful read.
One of Rand’s themes throughout her writing, philosophy is that forcing high-achieving individuals to sacrifice their success for the sake of fairness weakens society. She certainly wouldn’t approve of restrictor plates that are put on NASCAR cars to make the races more even and she certainly wouldn’t approve of how the Survivor producers dealt with the decimation of the Vula tribe.
In her mind and mine as well, if a tribe fails miserably the solution should be old school Survivor. Let them whittle down to nothing or let the remaining members be absorbed into the other tribes. Why? Because the players on the other tribes shouldn’t be made to suffer, have their games potentially ruined due to the fact that one tribe cannot win challenges. Why would everyone else be punished with a tribal swap for playing better games? To me, that is unfair and another reason why the three tribe start hurts the Survivor game more than helps it. The producers are sacrificing the long-term game for short-term drama as there is no place to hide on a smaller tribe.
In my chat with Thomas, he did reveal some very interesting things. We, as viewers, have seen very little of Bianca. He had this to say of her gameplay though: “The California Girls got a lot of air time and that’s so f——g cool but I do think that there’s an element to how f—–g smart Bianca is and how great she is…You don’t see as much of her but she had information that she would bring me. She was so active and just brilliant and wonderful out there.”
One has to wonder if there is more to Bianca’s gameplay than meets the eye? Perhaps we aren’t seeing all of her story?
He also said of not telling his allies: “Joe is the Titanic. He is strong but he’s hard to turn and Shauhin is the puppy dog who can get spooked. So, I think dropping that is like hitting an iceberg and thunder hitting the pug.”
That certainly doesn’t paint either player in a good light. Joe isn’t flexible and Shauhin becomes paranoid at the drop of a hat, at least according to Thomas.
Here is the rest of my chat with him if you want to check it out:
On with this week’s Survivor Stock Ticker:

Yet another victim of there being so many advantages in the game and a tribal swap. Thomas could have been a great villain. Survivor USA is in desperate need of a dastardly type of character even though host/producer Jeff Probst doesn’t really want to cast them anymore. He said: “In the hands of somebody else, I can tell you, for sure, there would be more ‘villains,’ more negativity, more yelling at each other. It’s just not going to happen when I’m part of the show. I’m just not interested in it. There’s too many other things we could do and still have fun.”
Yeah, I don’t get that. For any soap opera story like Survivor, which is what the show is at its very core, to be successful there needs to be heroes and villains, the conflict between good and evil. Without that conflict the tension and drama plummets.

As the only man on the new Lagi, you would think that David’s stock is on the rise. The tribe needs his, Eva and Charity’s combined strength and athleticism to continue to keep their heads above water before the merge arrives. It seems unlikely that Charity would turn against her old Civa mate.

Both Kamilla and Kyle have pulled one over on the Vula tribe with their great move and acting.

Why is Sai throwing Cedrek under the bus at the new Civa when his vote kept her in the game? Her very public and very chaotic nature may doom her game.

Who’s next to go?
Vula

This tribe is deadlocked with Kyle, Kamilla from Civa and Shauhin, Joe from Lagi. Taking Thomas at his word that Joe is inflexible and Shauhin plays scared, that would point to Shauhin cutting a deal with Kamilla and Kyle.
Lagi

Eva and David have hit it off. Charity wasn’t big on the Civa tribe but she needs to be on the right side of the numbers to survive. Eva and Star are at odds so Star will likely hit the bricks.
Civa

Mitch and Chrissy have ties from the original Civa. Cedrek and Mitch bonded. That leaves just Sai and Bianca. Bianca isn’t a threat to anyone and if Cedrek finds out about Sai’s betrayal he will surely cut her loose. Players like Sai never do well in the New Era anyhow.
