Survivor 48 Stock Ticker: Episode Five

By John Powell – Binge News

It has been a few days since the last episode of Survivor and I am still feeling the emotional impact of that raw moment between Eva and Joe. It was inspirational in so many ways. Eva, for baring her soul and being so uplifting and motivational. Joe, for exhibiting the compassion and kindness that can make a difference not only in someone’s life but in their very soul. It illustrated why even though Survivor can be a cutthroat game bringing out the worst in people it can alternatively also bring out the best in us all and that is one reason amongst many that we love Survivor as much as we do.

Unfortunately, as Jeff Probst even alluded to, that moment exposed how strong their bond and their alliance is. That may hinder their games or help their games. As we have seen in the past though, someone’s struggle or circumstances can work against them. James Chadwick “Chad” Crittenden of ‘Survivor: Vanuatu’ is a great example of that. As the first amputee to play the game Chad’s use of a prosthetic leg and the effect that might have on the jury was brought up time and time again by the other players. Eva’s story also might work against her if she manages to make the merge and the second phase of the game as Chad did.

With the tribal switcheroo in place the dynamics have changed as Bianca Roses found out. She played both sides against the middle hoping for a resolution in her favour. She rolled the dice and they came “snake eyes”, sadly. What I found interesting in my chat with her is that because Lagi was so successful so far they didn’t have to go to tribal, there wasn’t much drama and much of her game wasn’t shown to us such as the first person Star told about her Beware Advantage was Bianca. Bianca then told Thomas.

Although he causes so much drama and is amusing to watch, Cedrek is a definitely “agent of chaos” in the game. His decisions are causing massive ripples that are in an odd way deciding the course of the game in various ways. He may not be controlling the tribes he has been on but his choices are big factors into the tribal politics and the destinies of those tribes.

On with this week’s Survivor Stock Ticker:

As she told me, knowing that Cedrek voted out Justin because he kept a similar secret from him, Bianca was in a rock and a hard place. Believing she would be exposed at tribal council she decided to confess to Cedrek which led to her emotional exit.

Publicly displaying how strong his bond with Eva is could make him a target but it also could work for him in that current and future allies might be able to fully place their trust in him.

Unfortunately, revealing to everyone that she has autism could work against her when and if discussions about the jury phase become a clear and present reality.

Eva is yet another player who has stated she just doesn’t trust Charity. I am not sure if it is because she is pushing her social game too hard or perhaps something is getting lost in the translation but in Survivor perception is reality for good and bad.

Her stock being shaky at Vula has continued onto the Civa tribe. One has to wonder how long Cedrek would be willing to protect her?

Who’s next to go?

Bianca told me: “There was moments with Mitch and Chrissy that made me really want to work with them on a heart and personal level but I was thinking there’s no way you can bring more Siva numbers to the merge when this is kind of looking like a Civa, Vula game.”

At the merge, Civa will be six members strong, Lagi has four and Vula has three. So, technically, Lagi and Vula could team up on Civa. The problem with that is it is doubtful Mary will want or have any desire to rejoin her former tribe based on the way she was treated. There are also many powers in play which could be flushed out at tribal with some looking to make a move or protect themselves as they feel vulnerable. Cedrek has no such protection and Sai has no issues with throwing him under the bus because he voted for her so many times so he is my tentative pick.
