Survivor 48 Stock Ticker: Episode Seven

By John Powell – Binge News

The tribal politics at the new Niu Nai tribe are coming into clearer focus with all of this week’s happenings. The recently booted Survivors have all maintained that Muscles ‘R’ Us (Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, David Kinne, Kyle Fraser and Shauhin Davar) are running the camp. This leaves Mary, Star, Kamilla and Mitch on the outside looking in. Mary though is on the periphery of the alliance so she is safe for now one would assume. The one thing to remember is that Muscles ‘R’ Us have won the last four immunity challenges. Star, Kamilla and Mitch might not have much hope going forward and Kyle has really shone a spotlight on himself with the way he openly and aggressively defended Kamilla.

When I spoke to Chrissy she had a few interesting things to say:

They didn’t show me crying to David, me begging to David. I thought that would have been great. I can’t believe they didn’t show that…It’s so crazy how many different moves there are. It’s insane! How many different directions. I wish they’d show Joe and Eva running the game because that’s what’s going on right now. I look at it now and Joe seems like he’s the Godfather and everybody’s got to come to Joe and he says: ‘Let me, let me think about what’s going on.’

If Chrissy is to be believed, Joe and Eva are even more dominant than what we are seeing.

“They don’t even show it on the beach. When we voted out Sai, Joe says to me: ‘You’re not voting out Eva tonight. ‘ I was like scared of him…He really was protecting her big time and there was one point I asked Eva: ‘Who are you voting for?’ She goes: “Whoever Joe’s voting for.’ I was like: ‘Are you f—–g kidding me?’. It was so obvious.”

One wonders if we can take this to mean that Joe is leading that pair. If he is the mastermind and Eva is just following along.

“This was the perfect time to try to go at that point. David? Who knows? David was lost…They don’t show it but I was sobbing to David at the water well, begging him to stay Civa strong and not go the other way because he had a better chance to win the million with us than them. I could just see in his eyes that I lost him.”

Could David be more chaotic, more confused that we are led to believe? His behavior last episode did ruffle some feathers. When it comes time for Muscles ‘R’ Us to cannibalize each other might David be the first on the chopping block even before their parachute Mary.

Chrissy made a good point about Joe and Eva though when I asked her what were some of the things she was pondering when voting on a winner as part of the jury:

I want somebody that’s going to make moves…Like with Joe and Eva. They are playing the same game. How do I choose who gets the million dollars? If you’re playing the same game one of you is going to have to make a move. They just were like: ‘Whatever, we’re tight.’ In my mind you’re going to have to separate yourself at some point.

If Joe and Eva are seen as “playing the same game” by the others what will separate them as they move forward? It is very unlikely that one will make a move on the other based on their close bond.

Here is my interview for Global TV if you want to check it out.

On with this week’s Survivor Stock Ticker:

She didn’t have the relationships or the social game to shield herself from the core alliance.

She not only won immunity but she also found an advantage. Some say that because the producers specified where everyone was to sit at the reward that the arrangement might have been designed to facilitate Eva’s discovery of the advantage. I guess we will never know for sure but it come across as shady to some.

Everyone continues to seek counsel with Joe, to touch base with him before making a move. His influence on the game and the players is growing.

His strident defense of Kamilla really put a lot of suspicion on him. He is not long for this game.

He has become more and more vocal and more and more boisterous. Chrissy characterizing him as “lost” could signal that his game is about to sink.

Who’s next to go?

Although the next promo pushes a David narrative I think that Kyle safeguarding Kamilla as much as he did, so forcefully, will be the end of this game this week.
