I must admit I am the last person to take a deep dive into the Paranormal Activity franchise. Found Footage is my least favourite horror genre. I would rather roast my hand in an air fryer than ever watch Blair Witch again. I hate V/H/S/, except V/H/S/Beyond which was one of the best movies of 2024. The only Found Footage movies I have enjoyed are few and far between like REC, Grave Encounters, Deadstream, Noroi: The Curse and the amazing Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum and The Bridge Curse.
So, what motivated me to check out the Paranormal Activity franchise? I am a life-long gamer and am currently addicted to Phasmophobia, the ghost hunting game. That piqued my interest in revisiting or in this case introducing myself to not only some found footage but supernatural horror films that had gone off my radar. Unfortunately, the first film was a bit hit for Blumhouse Productions, the cinematic recycling plant, which has gone on to make some of the very worst, some of the most mediocre and derivative modern horror movies but I will try not to hold that against the filmmakers.
Boo!
