Survivor 49 Stock Ticker: Episode Three

After all these years we got another Survivor first this week but not a very pleasant one. Someone was actually bitten by a snake which is not only a rarity on Survivor but it is also uncommon when it comes to the highly venemous Krait Snake. Even though they are among the most venomous snakes in the world Kraits rarely bite humans compared to other venomous snakes and even when they do they often don’t inject venom.

Still, there was an angel sitting on Jake’s shoulder that day for sure.

An animal attack of any kind is rare on Survivor if you discount ticks and other nuisances that sometimes follow the castaways home.

On Survivor: Marquesas, John Carroll was stung by a sea urchin but fellow castaway Kathy Vavrick-O’Brien urinated on the wound cleaning it out.

On Survivor: Thailand, Robb Zbacnik was stung by a stingray after stepping on it while in the water

On Worlds Apart, Max Dawson was stung by two stingrays while wading into the ocean. Medical staff and fellow castaway Jenn Brown helped out.

And finally, host-producer Jeff Probst has been stung by a jellyfish and a scorpion while filming the show. The jellyfish stung him in a very “sensitive spot”.

Before the Survivors start playing they do go to “Survivor School” where an expert in the environment educates them of the dangers around them. Not only what they can eat, what they cannot eat but also the wildlife and sometimes which wildlife they can legally hunt and which they cannot. They are fully briefed before their adventure begins.

Jake spoke to me about his harrowing Survivor journey.

In his chat with me, Jeremiah attributed Kele’s poor performance to the health of everyone back at camp. “I think it was morale. We didn’t eat. We didn’t sleep. We didn’t have fire. When you look at the challenges we were do fine up until the puzzles. I feel like puzzles for us were like trying to break through a brick wall with our hands and we just couldn’t do it. We just didn’t fault anybody for not being able to do puzzles. It’s just one of those things granted though if we had more nutrition in us could we have done it? I’m not sure.”

Next Time On Survivor: “Go Kick Rocks, Bro” – An unexpected shakeup shifts the castaways’ game trajectories in an all-new direction. Teammates must rely on one another to succeed in a grueling immunity and reward challenge. Then, a wild goose chase unfolds to reinstate one castaway’s vote after the discovery of a beware advantage,

On with this week’s Survivor Stock Ticker:

He didn’t bobble the ball too badly. He just wasn’t as close to Alex as Sophi was. This is why it may be good for drama but it isn’t good for the game to have three small tribes.

We saw some more evidence that Savannah is calling the shots at Uli. One wonders if that will extend to the merge?

Curious that the same thing is happening on Hina with MC being that person who everyone is seemingly rallying behind. The person people go to as a coach and a partner in the game.

More evidence that Sage is in trouble especially since she threw Savannah under the bus. She just painted a massive target on her back. Will they be able to mend those fences? That remains to be seen.

Who’s next to go?

Uli

Word is that Alex and Sophi will integrate well into their new tribes so not much will change in the pecking order it appears. Shannon is just too scattered to be kept around.

Hina

His story on the series is like Nate he is a fish out of water.
