Blindsided by Friendship
Even a robotic scientist can get it wrong on Survivor. When he heard that one of his alliance members was targeting another one of his alliance members, Christian Hubicki made the wrong call and he made that wrong call because he put a friendship before the game in yet another example of outside relationships directly affecting Survivor 50.
While it was disconcerting that Mike wanted to make a move against Emily, Christian was blinded by making a big move instead of making a smart move. That move would have been to take out Emily. She has not only played one of the very worst games so far by leaking so much sensitive information but in doing that she is a massive liability to Christian’s game. The right move would have been for him to vote her out before she does any more damage no matter what the fallout would have been in the outside world. If Emily wasn’t willing to accept how poorly she played then that would have been on her not him.
Mike told EW that he and Christian have had “had so many conversations over the years [I thought] that maybe we would go back and play together.” Since Mike was voted out, they haven’t spoken at all. Mike thought their friendship was more than it obviously was. Why would you cut an ally who was a former winner and keep someone who keeps setting fires that you have to put out? Mike said he believes Christian was “annoyed that Angelina and I were there at all.” He thinks Christian was “trophy hunting” rather than playing a solid strategic game.
“This is my personal feeling, is that he felt like it wasn’t fair that I was even brought back. I think he doesn’t think that I deserved to come back because my fame outside of the game brought me back. I feel like he’s possessive about his own… Yeah, I wasn’t expecting it,” Mike said about Christian and his blindside.
Here is what we will see on this week’s episode:

“Open Wounds” – Tensions flare after Tribal Council when one castaway’s self-proclaimed “temper tantrum” rubs some members of their tribe the wrong way. Rivals clash in “Operation Bad Blood” and the stakes rise as two tribes are sent to Tribal Council, on SURVIVOR 50.
Also: The interviews return this week. For Q, there were circumstances beyond my control and last week Mike didn’t do interviews due to the White Lotus production schedule.
On with this week’s Survivor Stock Ticker:

Not only did the others believe Mike was a threat because of his “gift of the gab” but Christian perhaps was looking for a big target to make a move against instead of booting an ally who truth be told hasn’t been much of an ally.

Whether you disagree with the moves he has been making or not, his tribemates are following his lead.

It has taken a few episodes but Stephenie is finally making her voice heard. She was key in making Mike walk the plank this week.

Man, she is just all over the place talking out of school so much. She is now a burden to anyone who aligns themselves with her. The question is how much collateral damage must there be before people realize the longer you leave her in the game the most damage she does?

Who’s next to go?
Cila Tribe

She doesn’t have the ties like the others do.
Vatu Tribe

She escaped the last vote by the skin of her teeth. Her luck is about to run out.
Kalo Tribe

The feud she has with Aubry is really heating up. What will tip the scales is that Aubry has a better social game.
