Hulu banishes Ghost Rider series

Hulu is pulling the plug on a proposed Ghost Rider series. Nellie Andreeva from Deadline reports that Hulu had “reached a creative impasse which could not be resolved.”

The upcoming Helstrom series though is still on track as well as four animated series including Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show and Marvel’s Howard the Duck.

Gabriel Luna who was set to reprise his Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Ghost Rider role took to Instagram to thank fans for all of their support.

“To everyone who loves Robbie and Ghost Rider, THANK YOU. I’ve had the time of my life playing those two guys and I was ready to rock on the new show. The news was surprising, but I’ve always known that the nature of this business is that until you’re there, on the day, doing the thing it could still go away. Even then, that next day on the job ain’t guaranteed,” he wrote.

In the Marvel Comics there have been various versions of the Spirit of Vengeance. The first was Johnny Blaze then Noble Kate, Danny Ketch, Alejandra Jones and Robbie Reyes.

Granted hellish powers, those who assume the role of Ghost Rider transform in a skeletal human with supernatural powers which are also carried to their vehicle of choice, usually a motorcycle.
Currently, Marvel’s Runaways also airs on Hulu.

Marvel is launching a new Ghost Rider comic book series in October headed by Ed Brisson and drawn by Aaron Kuder. Marvel describes the series as: “The Brothers Ghost Rider are back! Johnny Blaze ain’t just the king of Hell—he’s the warden too. He’s the first line of defense between the demonic hordes trying to escape the joint and the lords of other hells making a play for his throne and all the power that comes with it – including a certain evil queen from his past! Meanwhile, Danny Ketch never wanted to be a Ghost Rider. Now that his brother’s in charge downstairs, Ketch must take on the duty of Earth’s Spirit of Vengeance full-time—no matter how much he’d rather be doing anything else.”
