Streaming our favourite shows is causing us to lose some shut-eye.
According to a study conducted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), 88% of U.S. adults admitted they are missing sleep to stay up and watch multiple episodes of a TV show or streaming series.
The stat increases to 95% when examining 18 to 44-year-olds.
Dr. Kelly A. Carden, the AASM President, advises people to prioritize sleep over that next must-see episode.
“Healthy sleep promotes physical health and mental well-being, boosts performance and reduces safety risks,” said Dr. Carden. “It is a necessity and needs to be a priority, no matter how intrigued you are by the show you are watching.”
