Them’s fighting words.
At the UBS Global TMT Conference, WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey took a swipe at the competition: Disney+.
“The strongest appeal of Disney+ is to the youth of the family. Its strength of a product to satisfy the other members of the family — it’s not that deep. There’s some stuff that’s interesting to adults in the offer and there’s some stuff that’s probably interesting your 20-something and 30-something-year-old members of the family, but it’s not that deep in that regard,” he said calling the streaming service a “nice product”.
In comparison, Stankey said that HBO Max will appeal to the entire family and Disney+ will have half the content HBO Max will have when it launches.
With Disney+ owning Marvel Comics content and WarnerMedia owning DC Comics content, the two services are likely to lock horns again in the future.
HBO Max launches in May, 2020.
