The Sleepers, the six-part drama from HBO Europe, is finally coming to American shores.
The series will be available to U.S. HBO subscribers on Monday, May 18th on HBO GO, HBO NOW and partners’ streaming platforms. It will also be available on HBO via HBO Max when the new streaming bundle launches on May 27th.
The Sleepers takes place at the end of 1989 in Czechoslovakia when the Soviet Empire was crumbling. In the midst of the Velvet Revolution, which brought 40 years of Moscow’s dominance in the country to an end, an ordinary woman gets caught between the two worlds of State Security and the dissidents when her husband goes missing and a grander mystery begins to unfold.
The cast includes Hattie Morahan (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Alice Through The Looking Glass”) David Nykl (“Arrow,” “Stargate: Atlantis”) Martin Hofmann and Lenka Vlasakova.
The series was one of six global shows selected as part of Toronto International Film Festival’s 2019 Prime Time Section.
