After a 17 year absence the Eco-Challenge is making a comeback.
Created and produced by Survivor mastermind Mark Burnett, Eco-Challenge is the ultimate expedition race in which 66 teams from 30 countries race non-stop for 11 days, 24 hours a day, across hundreds of miles of rugged Fijian terrain complete with mountains, jungles and oceans.
The new series will be hosted by Bear Grylls and will consist of 10 episodes premiering on August 14th.
Bear Grylls is former SAS serviceman and survival expert known for his series Man vs. Wild.
The series has previously aired on MTV and ESPN until it found a home and an expanded budget on the Discovery Channel and later the USA Network.
Like Real World, Eco-Challenge was one of the original reality shows spawning and inspiring such series as Survivor and The Amazing Race.
