Video game franchise Resident Evil already has a film series but now it is getting its own TV series.
Netflix has officially announced it will indeed be airing a Resident Evil series. The series will be produced by the same company who has made the original movies, Constantin Film, and is written by Andrew Dabb, the showrunner and producer behind the horror series Supernatural.
“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time,” said Dabb. “I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world.”
Dabb has promised there will be elements and characters from the video game series in the Netflix adaptation.
The series will focus on two simultaneous storylines. The first will feature the daughters (Jade and Bilie) of Resident Evil villain Albert Wesker, moving to New Raccoon City and uncovering their father’s nefarious dealings.
The second timeline is in the future where Jade is struggles to survive the apocalypse which has befallen Earth.
Netflix has not announced a release date for the series.
