HBO Max’s blockbuster films are pushing it ahead of the other streaming services when it comes to spiking those engagement numbers.
According to streaming search engine Reelgood, HBO Max has surpassed its competition by releasing King Kong versus Godzilla, Mortal Kombat and the latest in the Conjuring horror movie franchise on Max and theatres on the same day at no extra cost to subscribers.
Reelgood analyzed data for all of the films that premiered in Q2 2021 (from April 1 to June 25) and ranked the top 10 titles that had the biggest opening weekend shares of streaming and engagement among its 2M monthly users in the United States. Below are the team’s findings:

Netflix also made a great showing with Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, The Woman in the Window, and its most recent release The Ice Road.
While Disney+ continues to invest more in their TV show assets such as Loki and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the service’s latest movie release (without Premier Access) still made it to the sixth spot on the list
