Joe Hill’s Locke & Key to debut in February

A date has been set for when Joe Hill’s acclaimed comic book series will be premiering on Netflix.

According to the streaming company, Locke & Key will launch on February 7th, 2020.

The series will star Kevin Alves, Thomas Mitchell Barnet, Coby Bird, Asha Bromfield and Laysla De Oliveira.

Locke & Key was originally a comic book series published by IDW Publishing from 2008 to 2013. It was written by Hill and drawn by Gabriel Rodríguez. Locke & Key revolved around special keys which have many powers such as keeping a dark dimension sealed, opening a magic cabinet and unlocking someone’s mind.

As the story begins, the Locke family is moved to Lovecraft, Massachusetts, by their mother after their father dies not knowing the importance of the family estate or why their father was killed. Supernatural and mystical mayhem ensues.

The series won the 2009 British Fantasy Award for Best Comic or Graphic Novel, the 2011 Eisner Award for Best Writer (Joe Hill) and the 2012 British Fantasy Award for Best Comic or Graphic Novel.

Bringing Locke & Key to the big and small screen has been a headache for King. Dimension Films filmed a pilot and then passed on the series and Hulu eventually shifted away from the property as well presenting Netflix with the opportunity to re-develop the series.
