Deadline is reporting that comedian Melissa McCarthy will be starring alongside Nicole Kidman in Nine Perfect Strangers for Hulu.
Nine Perfect Strangers is based on the book by Liane Moriarty. Moriarty also wrote Big Little Lies which became a recent HBO series also starring Kidman.
In Nine Perfect Strangers, Kidman will play the director of a healthy lifestyle resort whose aim is to revitalize the minds and bodies of patrons.
McCarthy will be one of the “strangers” visiting the resort for 10 days to change themselves and their lives in various ways. The strangers are not really strangers at all and soon begin to wonder in short order what’s really happening at the retreat.
David E. Kelley of The Practice, Ally McBeal, Goliath and Big Little Lies fame will be producing the series.
The series is slated to premiere on Hulu next year.
