BBC is adding a new service to the already crowded streaming market.
BBC will launch BBC Select in the new year on Amazon Prime Video and the Apple TV app and it will feature “factual programming, spotlighting culture, politics and ideas”.
Louis Theroux’s BBC documentaries Selling Sex and Surviving America’s Most Hated Family, Grayson Perry: Big American Road Trip. Mary Beard’s Shock of the Nude, Reggie Yates in China, Putin – A Russian Spy Story and Adam Curtis’ All Watched Over By Machines Of Loving Grace are among the first slate of programming which will launch the service.
The BBC Select brand was last used in 1992 and 1995. BBC Select was a subscription service and aired at night with programming aimed at professionals in various capacities such as those in law, business or the medical field.
There is no word on exact launch date and pricing for BBC Select.
